Three charities are hoping to be the recipients of £500 after being shortlisted in the latest round of D.W. Nye’s Proud to be Local campaign.
After receiving nominations for causes across the county, the builders’ merchant, which is based in Kingsfold, has announced its shortlisted finalists and is calling out to the public to vote for its favourite. The group with the most votes will win.
This will be the fourth and final £500 donation to a charitable cause in 2018 from D.W. Nye. Rex Nye, who is the company’s managing director, said: “We’ve had a phenomenal response to our Proud to be Local campaign this year and some absolutely fantastic nominations for worthy causes. It has been a real honour to assist them in raising awareness. I am looking forward to finding out who our winner of the public vote will be this time round.”
The three causes that have been shortlisted this time are:
Jigsaw School, Dunsfold
Jigsaw School in Dunsfold is an independent day school for children and young people with an autism spectrum disorder. The school hopes to spend the funds on a number of vital projects, including the much-needed redevelopment of its early years playground.
Heads On – Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
Heads On is Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s charity. It helps people with mental health problems to feel supported, to stay active and to be more involved in their communities. It would like to use the money to fund a gardening project to help those they support to grow their own fruit and vegetables to use in the hospital kitchen at Langley Green Hospital and during cookery classes.
2nd Horsham Scout Group
Each week, 2nd Horsham Scout Group helps over 100 young people aged 6-18 enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed. It would like to use the funds to improve its HQ in Swindon Road and fulfil its dream of a good acoustic noise reduction solution. This includes installing acoustic panels in its Scout Hut to reduce noise amplification and echo so that young people can enjoy their activities without struggling to hear each other.
Votes can be cast in three simple ways. Either by visiting D.W. Nye’s depot in Kingsfold along the A24 and posting a token in the relevant voting box, clicking the chosen group on the poll that will be pinned to the top of D.W. Nye’s Facebook page, or by emailing proudtobelocal@dwnye.co.uk and putting the name of the group being voted for in the subject line (only one email vote per address will be counted).
Voting will close at midnight on Wednesday 12th December.
