Calldene invests in £140k MiTek machine press installation

Calldene Structural Timber Solutions has invested in the installation of a new £140k machine press at its Dover Trussed Roof Company site.

The company stated that the new Mark 8C A-Frame press, manufactured by MiTek Industries, reduces manual handling requirements within the production process of truss assembly.

Used for truss assembly and pressing joint connectors to form the finished product, the machinery features independent pressing tables. Calldene said the tables will reduce bottlenecks and lead times compared to traditional single bed presses.

The company added that this gives designers greater scope to develop innovative solutions using the press’ versatility.

Les Fuller, managing director at Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, said: “The installation of the MiTek machine press is a pivotal step in our ongoing investment programme. By creating a safer and more efficient manufacturing environment, we are directly improving responsiveness at Dover Trussed Roof Company while expanding the support we provide to customers via our Triad Timber Components site.

“This increased efficiency will ensure faster turnaround times for our clients, further strengthening Calldene’s reputation as a flexible, technically capable partner.”

Now fully operational, the company stated that the new machinery is set to increase every stage of operations and will benefit customers served by both Canterbury and Lancing operations.
