Global changes and those within the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) have been of centre focus at this year’s Supplier’s Conference held on Wednesday, November 23, at the Institute of Directors in London.
The Conference presented over 100 attendees with a packed agenda of key insights into the changes that have or will be taking place at the NFRC and the direction it is heading in including areas of membership, training and technical.
NFRC president Andy King also used the event to announce the new line up for the Roofing Suppliers Group, with the chairman still to be announced later this year:
Nigel Blacklock, Bauder
Andy Dennis, Redland Monier
Mark Harris, Radmat Building Products
Neil Harrison, Icopal
Mark Hill, Rockwool
Ian Muddiman, Sika
Tom Ogilvie, Brett Martin Daylight Systems
Andrew Wakelin, SIG Roofing
Andy Williamson, IKO
Keynote speaker David Hanson MP, chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the Roofing Industry, recommended that members to interact with their local MPs, which he says would give more leverage in raising the concerns of the industry and the issues that are affecting them.
The NFRC says it will be collating responses and will be on hand to assist any members wishing to engage with MPs.
The evening also included: the presentation of the initial findings of a national research project on future skills requirements within the industry; a detailed insight into the future of the built environment across all sectors from Allan Wilen, economics director at Glenigan, and an interactive question and answers panel featuring Kay Rose, Axter and Prince’s Trust Young Ambassador Antony Strode, on the opportunities across the industry.
