Only 2.7% of construction employers have offered their staff compensation in a time where the cost of living is skyrocketing, survey finds.

The survey conducted by Forbes Advisor on 5,100 UK adults also found that 75.6% of construction employees considered asking for a pay rise, above the national average of 68%, with 35.2% receiving a pay rise upon request of the 16.7% who did actually ask.

This resulted in the construction industry appearing to be among the least generous sectors. Meanwhile, only 4% of companies have voluntarily awarded financial compensation.

The construction industry accounts for 10% of total UK employment and is considered a good indicator of economic strength as this sector grinds to a halt when the economy falters.
