A sales representative from Covers OTBS in Bexleyheath is planning to walk 50 kilometres for charity in memory of her partner.
Zoe Elms will be tackling the Thames Path Challenge on 11 September to help raise funds for Heart of Kent Hospice, which cared for her partner, before he lost his battle with cancer.
Starting out at Bishops Park in Fulham, the picturesque route will head upstream along the famous Thames towpath, finishing at Runnymede in Windsor. Zoe, who will be walking with her mum, Liz Elms, is aiming to complete the course in approximately 13-14 hours and raise £500 for the hospice.
She said: “In late 2018, my partner, Craig, was diagnosed with cancer. After an eight-month fight, he sadly passed away in May 2019. From the day of his diagnosis, and throughout, Heart of Kent Hospice was our rock, and continues to support all the family almost two years on.”
As part of the company’s match funding scheme launched in 2019, Covers has pledged to match Zoe’s final fundraising amount up to £1,000.
Henry Green, managing director of Covers Timber & Builders Merchants, added: “We wish Zoe and her mother the very best of luck with the challenge. We are delighted to be supporting them with our match funding scheme and donating to Heart of Kent Hospice.”
