SR Timber’s entire team has become fully certified to grade timber roofing battens to BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 after completing an independent and comprehensive training programme.

For a long time, only SR Timber’s trading director Shaun Revill was the qualified batten grader in the business.

The certification the entire team has achieved ensures that they are now qualified and competent to grade tiling battens for commercial use, enabling the team to assist customers in identifying properly graded battens that are suitable for their intended purpose and identify those that are not.

The training course was conducted by timber expert James Coulson CEnv FIM FFB AIWSc from TTFT Woodexperts.

Shaun Revill commented: “Throughout the entire supply chain—from production to installation—there is a responsibility at each stage to ensure that timber batten products are manufactured correctly. Educating clients on the benefits of using a properly graded roof batten that complies with BS 5534 is also an important part of this process, and now all our customer-facing employees are officially certified to do this.”
