Alan Tooth, a full-time van and delivery driver at GB Plastics has been crowned the company’s first ever Driver of the Year, after registering consistent performance for careful and considerate driving.
The company’s general manager, Matt Wedderkopp, explained that GB Plastics’ drivers are an essential and integral part of its overall customer service: “For a company like GB Plastics that prides itself on excellent customer service, it is essential that our drivers are ambassadors for the business.
“Alan has shown time and time again what it means to go the extra mile. He is always the first to crack a joke and has built numerous solid working relationships with his customers.
“This new company award involved us assessing the tracker scores for all drivers of company vehicles throughout the 12-month period to July 2017. Alan’s scores show he consistently performed to a very high level in the three measurable elements of speed, braking and overall driving style. This performance, Alan’s enthusiasm for the company and the role, combined with his overall attitude, puts him firmly in pole position for the Award and prize.”
Alan added: “I really enjoy driving and meeting customers on a regular basis, in fact many of them feel like friends, and to be GB Plastics’ first ever Driver of the Year is great!”
The £4m turnover, second generation family business, was recently crowned the Midlands Family Business of the Year in the national FBU Awards, when the judges described GB Plastics as “a truly great British family firm with strong family values at their core and a belief in what they do.”
