In only its sixth year, Golden Houses Developments has been recognised for its work in successfully fulfilling an unsatisfied need – prestigious, high-end residential newbuilds and multi-unit developments.
The company has been shortlisted for the following award categories (below) for the National Federation of Builders (NFB) Awards 2018 and it is the only finalist in the entire awards solely run by a woman:
- Inspirational Individual Award – Monika Slowikowska
- Training Programme of the Year
- Construction Employer of the Year
- House-Builder of the Year
The firm’s founder and director, Monika Slowikowska, said: “It’s overwhelming to have been nominated in such a broad selection of awards.
“It shows that we have really got it right with our underlying culture and ethos, not just design and construction.”
This success comes hot on the heels of two awards won in 2017 at the London Construction Awards. Golden Houses Developments won the London Build Excellence Award and Monika won the Women in Construction Award.
Started by Monika in 2012, Golden Houses is said to take a different approach to building. It aims to reduce conflict throughout projects, lowering costs and reducing timescales, which subsequently allows very high standards of design, construction and finish – all of which she recognises is very important to her clients.
Turnover in year four was reportedly six times that of the first year, and the company has been featured on Channel 4’s Ugly House programme and has also made the cover of ELLE Decoration.
Monika added: “The fact that Golden Houses Developments is the only finalist in the entire awards solely run by a woman is a victory for all women. It shows that we are great at what we do and work very hard to achieve success but rarely we are recognised. When this happens, it helps others to break ‘glass ceilings’ and believe in themselves. Thank you NFB Awards to helping in that break.”
The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, Sutton Coldfield, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
