Construction is underway on a new facility at Hambleside Danelaw’s headquarters, which will be home to a new production line for glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) rooflights.
The new 30,000ft2 building at the company’s Long March facility in Daventry is being built by Nottinghamshire-based Clegg Construction and is expected to take around ten months to complete.
Chris Avery, managing director of Hambleside Danelaw, said: “We’re proud to be based in Daventry, and this new facility – close to our core markets – will allow us to reduce lead times, improve logistics and further improve customer service.
“After the recent downturn in the construction sector we think there’s real cause for optimism again. This investment reflects that and we’re really pleased to be able to get work underway.”
The project is being carried out in partnership with Daventry District Council (DDC), which has invested œ3.178m of capital funding and will lease the completed facility to Hambleside Danelaw on a long-term basis.
According to DDC, the deal further cements a fruitful partnership with Hambleside Danelaw, which leases its Daventry headquarters from the Council on a 15-year term. The local authority built the facility in 2007 as part of a project to regenerate the former Middlemarch industrial estate in the town.
Councillor David James, economic, regeneration and employment portfolio holder at DDC, said: “Daventry District is a great place to do business, and it’s fantastic to see firms like Hambleside Danelaw doing so well.
“The promotion of economic growth and job creation in the district are priorities for this Council so we are always keen to work with new companies to help them maximise their potential.”
