Housing Minister Stuart Andrew resigns

Housing Minister Stuart Andrew has resigned following 17 other Ministers in response to Boris Johnson’s hiring and handling of the former deputy chief whip Chris Pincher, who was accused of groping two men at a private member’s club.

Minister Andrew wrote in his letter to the Prime Minister: “Loyalty and unity are traits that I have always endeavored to provide for our great party. However, I fear that I have let these override my judgement recently. There comes a time when you have to look at your own personal integrity and that time is now.”

When he was appointed back in February, the construction sector hoped Stuart Andrew would embrace small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a vital tool for building more homes and reaching housing goals.
