The BMF (Builders Merchants Federation) has appointed Martin Stables, CEO of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG), as a board advisor.

Martin joined the IBMG as CCO in 2021, following over 20 years in the industry with Saint-Gobain’s Merchanting brands. He was appointed CEO in 2022 and heads a management team overseeing the merchant group.

In addition to its board of directors, the BMF may appoint non-voting advisors to strengthen the advice available to it on merchant, supplier, regional or specialist issues.

Richard Hill, chairman of the BMF, said: “The evolving ownership structure in the merchant sector makes it important for the BMF to reflect this in its own board. Therefore, we are delighted to welcome Martin as a board advisor. He brings a wealth of experience in this area that will help inform BMF activities as we continue to drive innovation and growth in support of our members.”
