John Brash and Co has marked its 110th anniversary with a series of events designed to thank all 121 members of staff and ensure everyone could take part in the company’s celebrations.

The family-run company held two events for its day and night shift staff to recognise the importance of the local talent in the Gainsborough area who have helped the firm grow over the years.

Christian Brash, chairman of the company and great-grandson of John Brash’s founder, who started the company in 1905, said: “We have a lot to celebrate at John Brash, and our 110th anniversary is a great opportunity for everyone to come together and toast our remarkable success.

“John Brash is very fortunate to have a highly skilled local workforce, which is the reason we have been able to strive for continued improvement across our business, from the efficiency of our manufacturing processes to the quality of every piece of timber that leaves our Beckingham premises.

“There is also a great sense of excitement because we have a lot to look forward to, as we are seeing strong growth, particularly on our flagship timber roofing batten JB-Red. This is in increasing demand from house-builders as the construction of new homes continues to gather pace across the UK.”

John Brash says it made its name in timber roofing battens and, since its move to Gainsborough in the mid-1960s, has gone from strength to strength. This was seen earlier this year when it invested almost £1m to install a new timber batten scanning line.

Christian Brash added: “Our anniversary is an important benchmark for everyone at John Brash, and we’ve all raised our glasses to the next 110 years.”
