Kingspan Insulation’s manufacturing facility in Pembridge, Herefordshire has been awarded World Class Operation Management (WCOM) Gold as part of the company’s efforts to continually improve its operations.
Kingspan Insulation says this latest award reflects the hard work of its staff at all levels within the firm. The WCOM program covers nine different areas including engagement, quality, maintenance, and production, each with their own road map to success. Companies are then given an overall level based on the weighted average of the scores for each area.
Most of the work at Kingspan Insulation’s Pembridge site has focused on improvements in manufacturing processes and this area has already seen significant progress. One of the biggest success stories has been on the production line for the firm’s premium performance Kooltherm insulation range, with waste cut by 70% in the last eight years alone.
As part of the WCOM process, the core facilities around the division are externally audited and scored every year. Kingspan Insulation says this will help support its programme of continuous improvement, with a particular emphasis being placed on further improvements in quality, staff training and engagement.
Other sites within Kingspan Group are also working towards the goal of achieving WCOM Gold by 2018.
