Recticel has played host to its second high profile visitor in almost as many weeks after Anthea McIntyre, MEP for the West Midlands, toured the company’s Stoke on Trent factory.
Mrs McIntyre, who became a Conservative MEP in 2011, spent three hours touring Recticel’s 175,000ft2 facility on September 7 just over two weeks after a similar visit by Rob Flello, Labour MP for Stoke on Trent South.
Kevin Bohea, commercial manager for Recticel, hosted both visitors and was joined by Chris Hall, chief executive of the British Rigid Urethane Foam Manufacturers’ Association (BRUFMA), for Mrs. McIntyre’s visit.
Mrs. McIntyre spent the morning learning about the company’s development and its recent multi-million pound investment in the plant, which Recticel says makes it Europe’s most modern PIR manufacturing facility. Part of this investment has included the commissioning of a new line with full rebating ability, allowing the production of improved insulation. This investment has also led to the creation of 30 new jobs for local people this year alone.
A presentation by Mr. Bohea also detailed how the company’s research and development programme has produced new products to assist with better-performing homes being built within existing footprints, while helping to reduce energy costs for the homeowner without the need to use costly or high-maintenance renewables on a new build.
Speaking after the visit, Mrs. McIntyre’s personal assistant and office manager Helen McMillan said: “Anthea found the tour of the factory most interesting. It is great to know that the company is successful and investing for the future.“
