Arnold Laver has announced that its new Bristol depot is now operational.

The company says that its new site, located in Bristol – within the site boundary of the former aircraft production facility Filton Airfield – provides an ideal location for distributing timber and timber-based products into the South-West of the country.

The business has been delivering materials into the South West, via its Reading and Birmingham depots, for quite some time now, but the introduction of this new dedicated facility will mean that it can offer a next-day service to existing and new customers that are either based locally, or working in the area.

The company says this new distribution depot represents a significant investment and helps to continue the principal of having significant stocks of materials at regional distribution locations across the country, backed up by product experts who are both knowledgeable and helpful.

Andrew Laver, group managing director for Arnold Laver, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have opened this new facility, which will further improve the service that we can offer our customers in the region. We are confident that our ethos of providing a large stock holding, together with a quick and efficient delivery service, via our own fleet of vehicles, will help our customers deliver their projects on-time and in-full.

“It is also appropriate that the depot is based within a former aircraft hangar when my grandfather Arnold Laver was a pilot who used his gratuity from the Royal Flying Corps to establish this business in 1920’.”

Initially the depot will hold extensive stock of softwoods, hardwoods, panel products, decorative surfaces, doors and joinery products which will be supplemented by roof-truss and timber-engineered floor production facilities during the summer.

David King, director for the Bristol depot, added: “We have listened to our customers and responded by developing a depot in the region so that we can offer an improved response-time. We know that by making it easier for our customers to trade with us, we are more likely to see demand grow. We also appreciate that as the depot develops, we are able to contribute to the local economy, providing opportunities for local people to join us and develop their career as our business grows.”
