The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) has appointed Cathal Quinn, managing director of MOY, as a co-opted board member.

Cathal will use his 18 years of industry knowledge and experience to help the association deliver its aims.

He joined Ireland-based MOY in 2006 and four years later moved to London to set up the company’s UK business, becoming group commercial director and playing a key role in MOY’s expansion. In July 2022, Cathal was appointed managing director and now leads a growing team spanning bases in the UK, Ireland and Germany.

He said: “MOY has been an LRWA member for more than a decade. I’ve always been impressed by the association’s proactive approach which has seen it continually evolve, helping to raise our industry’s profile as well as product and installation standards.

“It’s a privilege to be invited to join the board and have the opportunity to help build on the LRWA’s success. There are several areas which I’m keen to support, including promoting roofing as an attractive career for young people, and educating specifiers, contractors and distributors on why, when and where to use liquid waterproofing.

“As part of this aim, promoting best practice and complying with new and changing legislation is key. The LRWA has done a fantastic job in giving our sector a voice in the wider construction industry by working closely with organisations like the Construction Products Association (CPA) to help influence high level issues. I’d like to help the LRWA keep this momentum going, so that we can continue to promote competency across the supply chain and highlight its importance, especially during specification.”

Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA, added: “Cathal was invited to join our board based on his extensive industry experience, skills and expertise. As well as offering commercial acumen and specialist knowledge of liquid roofing and waterproofing, he is passionate about our sector and driving positive change.

“These qualities will complement our leadership team and ensure we are in a strong position to keep growing our membership, raising awareness of liquid-applied systems, and providing unrivalled technical guidance.”
