The British Board of Agrément (BBA) is growing the third-party Associate Consultant Scheme (ACS), members of which help guide organisations through applications for management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001 and CE marking to EN 1090.
To remain impartial and in line with its UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) certifications, the BBA cannot offer consultancy for management systems’ implementation. Instead it operates the ACS scheme for independent consultants within the construction products sector to help clients through the process.
Matt Tizzard, ACS scheme manager, said: “The BBA is often asked to assist with implementing systems such as EN 1090 and ISO 9001, which we are unable to do
“But applying for these standards can be daunting and many organisations don’t have, for example, in-house quality managers to manage the process. This scheme allows businesses to find expert support from the ACS database.”
Associate consultants benefit from association with the BBA, receive exposure to organisations requiring their skillset, have use of the ACS scheme logo, access to technical support from the BBA’s Audit and Inspection team and ongoing training.
“Consultants are vital for many companies wanting to access the various management systems. They robustly prepare clients to be application-ready and are experts in their fields, bringing experience and in-depth knowledge to the table. By joining the ACS they can raise their profile and benefit from support of the BBA,” added Matt.
