Marley has celebrated its 100th solar installation training day, coinciding with its 100 year milestone of roof tile production.
Since launching in the programme at the end of 2023, Marley said more than 450 roofing professionals have attended its training HQ in Burton and completed the one-day solar installation training course.
Developed by Marley’s training experts, the weekly, in-person one-day course covers the theory behind solar PV technology. According to a company statement, the course explains the practical steps needed to ensure a safe and compliant installation of Marley’s SolarTile system.
Marley’s solar training also includes:
- Designing solar arrays using the Marley configurator
- Setting out a rectangular array
- Testing solar panels before installation
- Making safe electrical connections
- Installing the Marley SolarTile system
- Considerations for stringing an array
- Installing roof tiles around the Marley SolarTile system
The statement added that the course takes attendees through the solar PV installation accreditation and permissions process, explaining the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and covering the District Network Operator scheme.
Kevin Taylor, training and technical support manager at Marley, said: “100 training days is a hugely significant milestone for the Marley training team. The popularity of our solar PV courses is testimony to the expert-led guidance and practical insight we aim to deliver. It’s a clear indication that roofing contractors view solar PV installation as an important service they need to be ready to offer.
“With high energy bills fuelling consumer concerns, and government policies driving increased solar power generation in the years ahead, it’s vital that contractors arm themselves with the skills needed to meet escalating demand for solar PV solutions. We’re committed to ensuring our bespoke training support plays a key role in building a robust community of trained solar PV installers.”
