Sheffield-based roofing contractor, Martin-Brooks, has delivered early Christmas gifts to half a dozen local causes, donating another £4,200 from its charity fund.

The firm’s directors invited representatives from six small charities to a festive mince pies and coffee morning, at which they were presented with cheques for £700.

Each organisation benefiting from Martin-Brooks’ fundraising efforts provides a valuable service to the Sheffield community and relies heavily on donations from businesses and the public to survive.

The causes include: Amy’s Retreat; Cavendish Cancer Care; Rowan School; Sheffield Talking News; South Yorkshire MS Therapy Centre and St Vincent’s Furniture Scheme.

Martin-Brooks has now raised more than £20,000 for its chosen charities and this is the third time each of the six organisations has received donations. The firm is committed to reaching its £25,000 target, set to mark its 25th anniversary, through the continued success of its annual golf day and various personal challenges undertaken by its team.

John Elmore, managing director for Martin Brooks, said: “It is hugely satisfying to be handing over another substantial amount of money to our nominated charities and to meet again the fantastic people who work so tirelessly and selflessly for the benefit of our city. We are pleased to know our support is appreciated and to learn how the money we raise makes a difference to these small, yet vital organisations. It has given us the boost we need to push on to our £25,000 target with renewed vigour.”
