Exmouth RFC and Withycombe RFC joined forces to create three teams for under 13s, under 15s and under 18s, playing both friendly and cup games against other teams in the region.
As the only club for girls in the local area, members are given the chance to learn and enjoy the sport, and the club welcomes players of all abilities.
Representatives and players recently paid a visit to RGB’s Exmouth branch to showcase the new kit, purchased thanks to the builders’ merchant’s sponsorship.
Amy Gillard, junior girls manager, said: “We are delighted to have a partnership with RGB, who have helped provide the girls with their own identity. We were very grateful to be able to debut the shirts in our first ever cup match on Sunday, November 18 at Cullompton RFC, where our girls brought home a win.
“The two rugby clubs have come together with great support from the Exmouth junior chairman Tristan Bassett and Withycombe junior chairman Richard Blythe. Thanks to this support, Exmouth & Withycombe Junior Girls are rapidly growing in all age groups.”
David Wright, branch manager at RGB Exmouth, added: “We’re pleased to be supporting Exmouth & Withycombe Junior Girls and we were delighted to welcome them to the branch in their new kit. The club is doing a fantastic job in encouraging local girls to get involved in the sport and we wish them every success in their future matches.”
