A team from Proteus Waterproofing is preparing for a gruelling charity bike ride, which will cover 206 miles from Hertfordshire to Wrexham in North Wales.
Tony Pez, technical sales director for Proteus Waterproofing, said: “We will be doing this in a single day, so there will be sore backsides as this will be the equivalent of running two marathons consecutively.”
The journey will be made even more challenging due to a climb of more than four miles in the final stage, which will take the team to a height of 404 metres as they cross the Horseshoe Pass near Wrexham, where the gradient reaches 20% at certain points.
With the aim of raising œ1,500 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Mr. Pez will ride alongside Alan Kinnear and John Kinnear in memory of their friend, Mark Porton, who died of leukaemia blood cancer in 2013, aged only 44 years.
Mr. Pez added: “Mark was not only a keen cyclist himself but a phenomenal bloke who would have done this and much more for us.”
