A Leeds College of Building roof slating and tiling apprentice won the Construction Apprentice of the Year Award at this year’s South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards, held at Sheffield United FC.
According to a statement, Samuel Jinks was chosen for his exceptional work ethic, technical ability and eye for detail.
Samuel said: “I have a long way to go yet, but so proud of how far I’ve come. Thank you for all the support over the last year.”
David Mallory, Leeds College of Building Roofing lecturer, added: “Samuel is a fantastic student who really puts the effort in to achieve the best quality with his work. He constantly pushes himself with his skills and knowledge in roofing. He is a credit to himself and the company he works for, Dalton Roofing, which has supported him really well.”
Dalton Roofing, Samuel’s employer and Leeds College of Building partner, won SME Employer of the Year.
Over 300 apprenticeship providers, apprentices and employers from across the region gathered at Sheffield United FC to celebrate exceptional achievements at the latest South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards.
Hosted this year by radio DJ Rich Williams, 14 category winners were announced at the 2025 award ceremony.
Jake Sterling, employed at CML Civil Engineering and studying a Construction Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship, in partnership with London South Bank Uni, achieved Highly Commended in the Degree Apprentice of the Year category.
