Samac Fixings has announced the appointment of Simon McElrea as its commercial manager.
He has over 30 years of experience and category knowledge in the merchanting sector.
Simon said: “I’ve always been passionate about this industry – especially the independent sector – as it’s built on trust, honesty and friendship, values that have shaped my whole career. Business is about relationships, and people are at the heart of it.
“These same ethics and strong foundations are very much at the core of Samac, and I’m very pleased to be part of a dynamic team where I can directly contribute to commercial growth, operational improvement and long-term business success.”
Simon spent more than three decades with an independent merchant in East Anglia. Over that time, a statement said he maximised operational performance, developed trusted supplier and customer relationships and supported the company’s continued expansion.
In recent years, Simon has also continued to contribute to the wider industry and worked closely with the National Merchant Buying Society (NMBS) for over a decade.
James Robinson, sales and marketing director at Samac Fixings, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Simon to the fold as he’s very much a Samac type of person, fixed on quality products and exceptional service. He’s already helping to improve commercial and procurement discipline, while shaping our product mix and category growth – and with his unrivalled background in tools and equipment has quickly taken ownership of our new Viper power tool accessories range, which is being improved, extended and optimised throughout 2026.”
