SPV Group has recently hosted an event showcasing the artwork of the pupils within the after school art club of at St John’s School, Wolverhampton.
The company has been undertaking the flat roofing works at the school and as part of this invited the children to decorate a number of hoarding boards to brighten up the work areas.
The company says the children were especially excited to meet Honour Goodsite – the Considerate Constructors’ new Female Industry Mascot who has been developed to promote all that is great about the industry and help to raise awareness of children’s safety around construction sites.
SPV management then invited the children for a short talk explaining the reason for and the nature of the works being undertaken on site and then offered an overview of the construction industry hoping to inspire some of the children to consider this as a career when they grow up.
The company went to on to say that a fantastic afternoon was had by all, with one of the children commenting: “I had a great afternoon. It was really interesting to learn about the roofing works. Honour Goodsite is my new bestie, it was so much fun meeting her.”
Georgina Heyes, the teacher who oversaw the creation of the hoarding boards, said the children all had a great time and were delighted to see their art work showcased prominently outside school.
Kate Whatley, of SPV Group, commented: “It was a joy to see the excitement on the children’s faces when they saw their hard work being showcased and they especially loved meeting Honour Goodsite. The children were inspired by learning more about the roofing industry and who knows, maybe one day some of the group may contact SPV with a view to working in the industry!”
