UKCW Role Models campaign set to return

UKCW
UKCW 2025 Role Models awards' finalists

Entries for this year’s UK Construction Week (UKCW) Role Models awards are now open.

Nominations are open to anyone working in the sector, including architecture, engineering, construction technology and property development. The three categories are Rising Star, Pioneer and Icon.

The shortlist will be announced at UKCW London, which is set to take place from 12 to 14 May. The winner is to be crowned at UKCW Birmingham, which will take place from 29 September to 1 October.

Last year, Virtue Igbokwuwe, assistant project manager at Ringway, won the Rising Star award, Olayemi Usman, cost consultant at Turner & Townsend, was the winner of the Pioneer category and David Stevens, director of Estates, Facilities & Capital Development at East London NHS Foundation Trust, won the Icon award.

Virtue said: “Even being shortlisted felt like recognition of the collective effort we put into promoting our industry. This award is a real confidence boost, and being a STEM Ambassador is something I’m deeply passionate about and I’ll continue championing this amazing industry at every opportunity.”

Olayemi added: “Winning an award is good recognition because it shows what I’ve been doing in the industry for the last few years, being a pioneer. This category means a lot, and there’s more to do and more ground to cover.”

David said: “The construction industry is at its best when it’s inclusive. When inclusivity, collaboration, innovation and professionalism come together, we can do great things and I’m proud to play a part in that journey.”

Sam Patel, divisional director, Construction, added: “The UKCW Role Models awards celebrate the individuals who are driving change and innovation in the construction sector, and whose work and dedication may have previously gone unrecognised. It’s the perfect chance to shine a light on your achievements, demonstrate your unique skills and inspire others.

“Every year, we are wowed by the remarkable stories we see, highlighting the diverse career paths and opportunities available, while encouraging the next generation of industry leaders.”
