Waterproofing, inclusion and Brexit on RCI Show agenda for BBA

The British Board of Agrément (BBA) has a busy programme of events lined up for next week’s RCI Show, starting on the first day at 10.15am with a CPD presentation about assessing durability, with particular reference to roof waterproofing solutions.

Taken by Dr Mike Wiseman, the BBA’s team manager for construction products, the seminar will focus on key issues assessed, why it is necessary and how it impacts product innovation.

Later that day, at 1.15pm, BBA chief executive Claire Curtis-Thomas is chairing a panel debate discussing inclusion and diversity challenges within the construction industry. She will be joined by Jez Cutler of Action Sustainability, Tom Thomspon of Roundway Roofing, and Kate Whatley of SPV Group.

The panel will consider how clients and large contractors are working to develop a culture of Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) within workplaces. This includes promoting equality and diversity and combatting discrimination and, increasingly, expecting supply chain partners to become involved. Session delegates will learn how to incorporate FIR in the built environment, why FIR matters and how to become a FIR Ambassador.

On the second day of the show, Claire will take part in a second debate entitled: ‘Calling time on Brexit’. Chaired by Brett Amphlett, policy and public affairs at the Builders Merchants Federation and supported by James Talman, chief executive of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, the event will examine the Brexit situation and give delegates the opportunity to ask questions.
