Cefil’s Steve Downey has raised well over œ1,000 for charity after completing a Christmas fun run with his wife, Lauren.
The pair took part in the five kilometre event to raise money for Myaware – Fighting Myasthenia Together and have already achieved œ1,140.66, well above their initial target of œ200.
Myasthenia Gravis is a neuromuscular disease that leads to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue. Mr. Downey says for anyone not affected by this condition, a fun run should be fairly straight forward, however for those that are affected, this is almost impossible.
Having taken place on December 7, Mr. & Mrs. Downey ran along the Eastbourne seafront with around 300 other participants, all dressed in festive outfits. The event runs every year, and welcomes Santas of all shapes, sizes and ages.
