Entrepreneurial, creative and enthusiastic, Ecocem and Moy Materials former marketing manager, Lynn Lambe has launched her own marketing consultancy firm for the construction industry. The 28-year-old from South County Dublin has launched her practice, Little Lambe Consultancy to answer the marketing needs of the construction industry.
Spotting a gap in the market, Lynn decided to venture out with her own consultancy practice in order to answer a demand for “on the ground” marketing services from the market. With the industry booming and with growth projections at 20% across the construction sector, it is safe to say that companies will be vying for their brand to be positioned at the forefront of the construction industry. With a number of agencies offering marketing support to construction companies, few if any, have on-the-ground knowledge of working within a construction company or a deep understanding of the complexities of the products and industry, according to Lynn.
Having started her career as an intern whilst on placement as part of her degree in Dublin Institute of Technology, Lynn’s passion for all thing’s construction, manufacturing and specification has grown over the last five years. Having recently explored the agricultural industry as global marketing manager with Alltech, Lynn had her heart firmly set on returning to the construction sector.
Having already secured a number of major clients within the sector, Lynn commented: “I am so excited to finally bring Little Lambe to the construction industry. The construction sector continues to be a male-dominated sector with the average percentage of men working in the sector estimated at 89% compared to only 11% for women. There is a major gap in the construction market for female entrepreneurs, delivering practical experience, industry knowledge and a passion for construction, to companies across Ireland and the UK. The industry so far has been extremely receptive and the next 12 months is looking extremely positive.”
There is a notable difference in the level of seniority of women working in the sector with companies estimating that only 10% of senior management (i.e. directors) and 3% of CEO’s are women. It is an important time for women to capitalise on this male dominated sector and Little Lambe consultancy is doing this.
Lynn added: “I hope that by taking this leap into marketing for construction that it will show other young girls that there is more to the sector than steel toe boots and site visits, women can help to grow businesses through supports such as marketing, finance, design, health and safety, architectural skills, legal and a host more of professional skills.”
