James Talman, chief executive of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), joined the Board of Build UK on September 27, 2018.
The board provides direction, oversight and guidance on the strategy and operations of Build UK, with members elected from recognised industry leaders who represent contractor members and trade association members. The election of James is said to be significant for the roofing industry as it meets the skills, competency and commercial challenges.
James said: “I am delighted to have been elected to the board of Build UK in order to help shape the important work that Build UK is doing on behalf of construction.
“The priorities of Build UK, include the delivery of zero retentions, reforming the PQQ system, improving quality following Grenfell, and meeting the skills challenge. These are all issues which affect NFRC members and the wider roofing industry so being able to give it a voice at the highest level is hugely positive.”
Mr Talman becomes the eighth board member, sitting alongside board chairman Mark Castle (deputy chief operating officer, Mace Group); Andy Steele (group chief executive, Osborne); Gregor Craig (chief executive and president, Skanska UK); Brendan Kerr (chief executive, Keltbray Group Holdings Limited); Brian Morrisroe (CEO, Morrisroe Group); Julie White (managing director, D-Drill (Master Drillers)) ; and Steve Bratt (chief executive officer, Electrical Contractors’ Association).
