On November 27 at York Hall in East London, Proteus Waterproofing’s office manager Roz Richardson will swap workwear for boxing gloves as she enters the ring for the very first time to raise money for two local charities.
York Hall in Bethnal Green has a rich boxing history, hosting thousands of fights featuring many legendary boxers from Ricky Hatton and Nigel Benn to Ronnie and Reggie Kray. On November 27, the hall will be filled for a night of White Collar Boxing, hosted by Ripped Gym.
White Collar Boxing gives people with no pugilistic experience the chance to slug it out in the ring for three short three minute rounds. Ms. Richardson will spend the next three months training with Chris Barnes at Ripped Gym Fight Club in Basildon to ensure she’s ready for the bout.
She said: “I have taken on the challenge of becoming a boxer within just a couple of months and Proteus are fully behind me. They have sponsored my training and my kit, and now it’s time to get to down to business as Chris shows me the ropes.
“The event raises money for charity and our team has decided that we will raise much-needed funds for two local charities. At the Forget Me Not suite at Basildon Hospital, an amazing team offer support to women that have suffered miscarriages and still born babies. The second charity – Bulldog Rescue – offers a rescue and re-homing service for pure bred bulldogs who, for whatever reason, cannot stay where they are.”
