The head of Apex Roofing has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising women working within the construction industry.
Jackie Biswell, who set up the company in 2012, is among the nominees vying for the ‘Business Leader of the Year’ award, just one of the categories in the annual ‘Women in Construction Awards’ to be given out on March 26 at Lancashire Cricket Club.
Ms. Biswell’s selection in the category is in recognition of her success over the last three years, transforming Apex Roofing from a start-up into a high turnover firm with national contracts.
Speaking about her nomination, Jackie said: “I’m blown away by the nomination for Business Leader of the Year, just to be in the company of the other women on the finalist list is humbling. Apex Roofing has proved that construction doesn’t have to be a man’s world and these awards are a fantastic showcase for why our sector should be considered by more women as a viable career choice.”
Now in its ninth year, the awards are intended to provide a showcase for the best female achievers in the construction industries, and have had entries from some of the biggest companies in the UK.
