Tudor Roof Tiles has won the 2014 ?Build It Award’ in the category of ?Best Roofing Product’.
The company received the accolade for its historically authentic range of handmade peg and plain clay tiles, which it says add value to new build projects as well as complementing older styled or period properties in conservation areas.
Made from English clay, the traditional sand faced clay tiles have an ?instant aged’, time weathered appearance with variations in shape, camber and colour to mirror the randomly individualistic look of antique tiles.
Paul Lythgoe, managing director of Tudor Roof Tile, said: “We are delighted to have received this prestigious ?Build It’ award. Such recognition clearly demonstrates the aesthetic importance of traditionally manufactured handmade peg and plain tiles and the value which continues to be placed on high standards of workmanship.”
Combining age old craftsmanship with modern performance benefits, Tudor’s roof tiles are hand pressed, moulded and trimmed before being strengthened by advanced firing techniques in order to give the final products greater durability.
Manufactured in both bespoke and standard sizes to complement historic and regional variations, they are also available with round or square peg holes or with nibs on the underside to suit both modern and historic forms of construction.
