Ten employees and sub-contractors at Bracknell Roofing have already completed their slating and tiling NVQs this year – as the company continues to drive forward with its programme of investing in its people to develop the skills needed for the continued growth of the business.

All ten – who are high-quality roof tilers and slaters from across the company’s nationwide network of branches – achieved their Level 2 accreditations. The latest crop of successes puts the Burton-on-Trent-based company well on track to surpass last year’s total of 11.

As well as developing key slating and tiling skills, Bracknell Roofing has also been investing in its contracting teams at its seven offices across England. Two people recently completed Level 6 Construction Contracting Operations Management NVQs, and three are currently working towards the accreditation.

Freddie Wade from the company’s south coast branch and Luke Redgate from the Midlands branch have also completed their Level 6, while Mark Ford, Daniel Walker and Andrew Cramp are all studying for it.

The company’s commitment to training also extends to its support and finance roles with three members of staff – Tracy Thorley, Natalie Tipper and Stephanie Wood –recently completing Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2, and two others – Jordan Ward and Michael Killingbeck – in the final stages of completing AAT Level 4.

Commenting on all the achievements, divisional director, Simon Smith, said its commitment to training and development is vital for the sustainability of the business.

“Having ten people complete their slating and tiling level NVQs already this year is the headline story because it highlights the importance the business places on continually developing arguably the most essential core skill for our business,” said Simon.

“This sends a strong message to everyone who works with Bracknell Roofing – such as housebuilders and suppliers – that we place the continued development of core roofing skills at the heart of what we do.

“But our investment in our people is more wide reaching than that and extends to every facet of what we do because it’s of paramount importance to the future of Bracknell Roofing.

“This programme is delivering great results for the business and is very well supported by the senior management team who recognise the value of developing our people to ensure that the business can continue to deliver projects of the highest quality, safely and to budget for our customers.”
