Marley Alutec delivers durability at Longniddry

Marley Alutec, the UK leader in aluminium guttering and eaves systems, was specified to deliver a number of its Evoke and Evolve products for a new-build public toilets in Longniddry, East Lothian. With the building located on the seafront and at risk of vandalism, Marley Alutec’s marine-grade aluminium guttering system delivered the ideal durable solution.

Following East Lothian Council’s decision to commission a new public toilets facility at Longniddry Bents Car Park, the company was approached to provide a robust guttering system to protect against both the coastal elements and vandalism.

It was due to the project’s main contractor Alan Quinn of Campbell & Smith’s previous experience with Marley Alutec’s products that East Lothian Council selected the installer for the job. With Plumbing & Drainage Merchants’ Edinburgh branch supplying the products required, Alan was able to carry out the installation without issue.

The new facility at Longniddry Bents Car Park features the company’s Evoke fascia and soffits, as well as its Evolve half round gutter and 63mm downpipe all in a uniform RAL7016 anthracite grey. By specifying the manufacturer’s marine-grade and composite aluminium material, the new build’s guttering system has a functional life expectancy of 50 years with minimal maintenance needed over that time.

“From my experience, Marley Alutec’s Evoke and Evolve product ranges are far superior to any guttering system alternatives that are currently available on the market,” commented Alan.

“Public buildings are vulnerable to vandalism and coupled with the project’s coastal location, the specification of a durable solution was crucial,” commented Drummond McKenzie, Marley Alutec’s Scottish area sales manager. “Marley Alutec is ideally placed to supply marine-grade aluminium guttering systems that are both easy to install and deliver long-lasting results.”
