FAKRO used on award-winning project

fakroFAKRO has helped the Arts University Bournemouth Passivhaus Studios to become the ?Best Sustainable Project’ at the Regional LABC Awards.

The project, designed by Frias-Robles Associates, was also a finalist in the ?Best Education Building’ category of the LABC Building Excellence Awards.

Totalling 1,250m2 and used for architecture, photography and fine art courses, they are the first Passivhaus university buildings used for teaching in the country.

FAKRO FTT triple-glazed roof windows, which were installed in a Kalzip ?Falzinc’ system, provide a U-value to the buildings which is significantly lower than the Passivhaus benchmark, and are a key feature of the airtight design. Though required to meet a standard of 0.6 Air Changes (ACH) / hour @ 50Pa, the buildings achieved 0.19.
