Latchways has unveiled a portfolio of ‘BIM Ready’ roofing products, giving architects, specifiers and contractors full access to easily downloadable BIM components.
The company says it has long since recognised the benefits BIM capabilities will bring to its customers, and has therefore developed its roofing portfolio over the past 12 months. It is now ready for use nearly a year ahead of the Government deadline for Level 2 BIM adoption in 2016.
Sheu Wah Ho, technical services engineer at Latchways, said: “Our ManSafe fall protection systems are trusted around the world to ensure people are safe on a wide range of structures. So it’s hugely important for us to continually be proactive and give our customers the absolute best in fall protection -that’s why we didn’t want to wait until 2016 to get BIM ready and are pleased to have our portfolio of rooftop solutions now available. BIM is really starting to be embraced by the construction industry as a whole and we wanted to be the first in fall protection to be there.”
Latchways’ initial BIM portfolio -compatible with Revit software and available through the National BIM Library and the Latchways website -demonstrates a major investment by the company, which says its portfolio brings a unique offering to customers.
Sheu Wah Ho added: “We feel confident we are making a positive contribution to the industry with our BIM portfolio. We can offer our customers full compliance with standards; full compatibility with existing systems; clear modelling guidelines; improved design processes; and most importantly, the capability to truly protect people working at height.”
The Latchways Constant Force roofing systems currently available for BIM are: Standing Seam, BUOS Composite, Single-ply and Green Roofs. The company has future plans to expand its BIM offering to other areas of the business, specifically overhead and vertical systems.
