Contributing to London’s Skyline

Skyline Fascia, Soffits and Copings has supplied bespoke window and door surrounds to create a striking new entrance and frontage for a major office refurbishment in Spitalfields, London.

The formerly dark entrance of the 1980s building has been transformed with new surrounds that allow more natural light to filter through, blending with the updated interior styling. An exterior finish ensures the design is sympathetic to the historic location of the building. A cut-out of the building’s address in the side panels was an integral part of the design. This enabled a light to be installed behind the cut-outs for a contemporary effect.

Skyline’s new surrounds were colour matched to other exterior features of the building for a seamless look. The painted finish is BBA-approved for total assurance in durability, longevity and weather resistance.

The project, known as 45 Folegate Street, was led by refurbishment specialists Tatehindle Architects, who worked closely with contractor Tetraclad to install the new window and door surrounds. Matt Swaffer, Tetraclad’s contracts director, had worked with Skyline on previous projects and knew its design team could manufacture a bespoke solution, which would convert the architect’s vision into a practical product.

Matt said: “The drawings requested an aluminium cladding panel, which included specific detailing. I was tempted to steer away from it at first as I had never attempted anything like it before. Some of this detailing was quite complex, but I knew Skyline would produce good fabrication drawings – a service which other manufacturers don’t offer. It worked out very well.”
