For the first time in its 25-year history, the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) is holding a National Conference and Awards Dinner for members and industry stakeholders.
Taking place at Hellidon Lakes Golf and Spa Hotel in Northamptonshire on June 24, the inaugural speaker line up has been drawn from both within and outside the industry to provide guidance and insights across a broad range of subjects, with each underpinning SPRA’s core pillars of “educating, influencing and supporting”.
The first plenary sessions will cover ‘getting the best out of single ply’ from design, procurement, installation and maintenance, with contributors from the architectural, main contractor and client perspectives together with SPRA’s technical director, Jim Hooker. The second will focus on sustainability with leading experts outlining legislative and voluntary impacts that can benefit the technology. This will be followed by a choice of breakout sessions – either competent roofing, which will look at the competitive advantages that come with competency, or how to use social media to drive business growth.
Later, a panel including Graham Wren of CSCS and Sarah Wicks from the National Specialist Contractors Council (NSCC) will discuss the benefits and requirements of “Carding the Industry”. The final address of the day – and expected to be one of the Conference highlights – will be by Arup’s architect and associate director, Casey Rutland, on using BIM in project roof design and delivery.
James Talman, chief executive of SPRA, and chairman Mike Crook will provide the opening and closing addresses respectively, and there will be plenty of opportunity to network with industry professionals, as well as an exhibition and Innovation Lab, which will be open to delegates throughout the Conference.
SPRA members are invited to join the AGM, and all are welcome to the evening Dinner and Awards Ceremony with speaker, Adrian Dobson, director of practice at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
James Talman, said: “Our inaugural Conference is an opportunity to get together with industry peers and debate the topics that are important to us in single ply roofing, and we’re delighted to have secured such a great speaker line up.
“The evening Awards Ceremony will recognise excellence, innovation and talent in single ply roofing, rewarding the individuals and companies who are trailblazing in our industry.”
Conference passes are available for members and non-members, with prices starting at just œ55. To find out more about the SPRA National Conference or to book, visit www.SPRA.co.uk/events
