BBA appointed as first UKTA body

The British Board of Agrément (BBA) has become the first organisation approved to issue UK Technical Assessments (UKTAs), which will replace European Technical Assessments (ETAs) as businesses switch from CE marking to UKCA.

The announcement from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities comes at a critical time for UK-based construction product manufacturers, importers and distributors, which have a year to prepare their businesses for the switch over for their products placed in the GB market

Hardy Giesler, CEO of the BBA, said: “We are delighted to have been approved as the first UK Technical Assessment Body able to issue UKTAs to our clients. This important milestone enables us to respond quickly to the urgent needs of our clients, who have been waiting to progress their ETA to UKTA transition for well over 12 months.

“Our team has worked hard on this, building relationships with other organisations such as the European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA). We look forward to continuing to serve our industry throughout this transition.”
