Construction products manufacturer Hilti has become the first company to receive UK Technical Assessment (UKTA) certification from the British Board of Agrément (BBA), just weeks after it became the first government approved organisation to issue the assessments.
Simon Wroe, head of key accounts at the BBA, said: “We are delighted to issue Hilti with its UKTA Certificate. This is a big step forward in supporting our clients and the industry in getting ready for the upcoming CE to UKCA transition. Issuing UKTA Certificates enables the BBA to respond quickly to client demands due to pressures on them to future proof their businesses.”
In a joint statement, Rickard Bergeryd structural codes & approvals manager and Olga Katsanova, PLS manager BA fastening and protection at Hilti Northern Europe, said: “Being awarded the first UKTA certification by the BBA makes us very proud and further strengthens our market leading position providing high quality technical products and services to the UK market. It also contributes to a higher level of safety and accuracy of our products.”
UKTAs are not mandatory but they will be an important channel for manufacturers to achieve the industry expected UKCA marking.
