The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has partnered with Build UK and fire industry experts to develop a free eCourse to improve the sector’s knowledge of fire safety measures in buildings.
CITB’s Fire Safety in Buildings eCourse has been created as a direct response to recommendations made by Working Group 2 WG2 part of the Competence Steering Group (CSG), devised to support the Grenfell Inquiry, as outlined in the Setting the Bar report.
One outcome from the Inquiry highlighted a need to increase awareness and create a more positive health and safety culture across industry, with the request that CITB produce a straightforward, low-cost training solution.
CITB created the course in collaboration with WG2, Build UK, the Fire Protection Association, Association for Specialist Fire Protection, and the Fire Service College.
The free course is easily accessible, allowing learners to study at their own pace, in the comfort of their own home.
The course centres around Grenfell, materials, fire protection, competence, and installation. CITB says that it is suitable for anyone working in the design, construction, or maintenance of buildings, with a specific focus on installers, although learners will need a basic awareness of fire safety.
