Forticrete and Klober are celebrating the success of the Roofing Racers team at the 2015 London Triathlon after staff from both companies took part in the event, helping to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Roofing Racers, made up of competitors from the roofing, roofline and window industries, included three Forticrete staff – Kevin Higby, southern field sales manager; Lisa Pygall, customer services administrator; and Lesley Pygall customer services manager – and two from Klober in the form of managing director, David Arendell, and technical manager, Graham Copson.

They completed the daunting ‘Sprint’ triathlon, which included a 750m swim of the River Thames, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run around London’s Docklands.

All of the racers had to overcome several challenges during the event, not least the soaring temperatures of August 8 & 9. Despite picking up a flat tyre on his bike, Klober’s Graham Copson finished just ten minutes after Mr. Arendell, who completed the course in a little over 1 hour 50 minutes.

He said: “Temperatures weren’t actually as bad as previous years though the run is always a killer at the end”.

Meanwhile, Forticrete’s Lisa Pygall won the ‘Under 25s’ category after completing the triathlon in a staggering two hours, seven minutes and thirty three seconds.

John Lambert, general manager at Forticrete, said: “We are over the moon with the effort put in by everyone – it was great day and a lot of fun was had by everyone involved.

“To raise such a tremendous amount of money is an absolutely fantastic achievement, especially with it going to such a worthwhile cause. We are extremely grateful to each and every member of the team that took part and the overwhelming support of those that sponsored us.”

At the time of writing, the 2015 Roofing Racers team had already raised over £40,000 for the two chosen charities.
