NFRC cancels 2020 UK Roofing Awards

The National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) has announced that it has cancelled the postponed 2020 UK Roofing Awards amidst further national lockdowns and no sign of lifting restrictions on large public gatherings in site.

However, shortlisted projects for the 2020 awards – which was previously scheduled for 28 May, 2021 – will still undergo the scrutiny of the usual judging process, and winners for all categories will be announced to the NFRC membership, trade press and on social media in February. Trophies will be presented personally or dispatched by courier.

Shortlisted projects will be shared on social media over the coming weeks prior to being judged, using the hashtags #RA2020 and #RoofingAwards2020.

Commenting on the decision, James Talman, chief executive officer of the NFRC, said: “It is with a heavy heart that we have taken the decision to cancel the 2020 UK Roofing Awards live event. With lockdown restrictions on large public gatherings expected to last well into the first half of 2021, it looks very unlikely that the 2020 awards would have been able to take place as planned in May.

“However, we felt strongly that the judging of the awards should still go ahead to provide much-deserved recognition for the extremely high-calibre projects that have been submitted. We hope to ensure that winners get as much exposure as possible and that they are also recognised at the 2021 awards.”
