NFRC publishes COVID-19 Toolbox Talk in Polish

The National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) has published a Polish version of its COVID-19 Toolbox Talk “Working During The Coronavirus Outbreak” (“Praca Podczas Pandemii Koronawirusa”), to help halt the spread of the coronavirus as the industry begins to re-open sites.

There are over 57,500 polish construction workers in the UK, who will now be able to receive detailed advice on how to work safely on a construction site during this pandemic, in their native language.

The NFRC Toolbox Talk builds on the Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) Site Operating Procedures and Public Health England guidance, and covers the following areas:

• Symptoms of COVID-19
• How to prevent the spread of the virus
• When to stay at home
• Do’s and don’ts.

James Talman, chief executive of the NFRC, said: “The government has sent a clear message that they want construction work to continue. However, the health and well-being of workers must come first.

“As more and more sites re-open, it is critical that construction workers of all nationalities are fully aware of the symptoms of COVID-19, when to stay at home, and how to maintain a safe social distance with others. We have therefore published a Toolbox Talk, that breaks down official guidance into clear language.”

James continued: “To ensure these messages are clearly understood by the highest number of workers possible, it is critical that they are translated into the native language of the workforce.

“Polish nationals play a huge role in the UK construction industry, making up the second highest group of workers in the sector. That is why we have translated the Toolbox Talk into Polish. We urge employers to share this freely available guidance with their Polish members of their workforce.”
