Greenworks Training Academy has been practicing what it preaches as it has announced a 7,793 KwH reduction in its gas consumption in 2015 and achievement of ‘Zero to Landfill’ status.

In 2014, Greenworks installed an air source heat pump at its academy, and two years on the training provider is now entirely heated gas-free, resulting in the annual energy consumption dropping dramatically, equating to a saving of 1.4 tonnes of Co2.

The state-of the art facility also uses solar panels to produce electricity, generating, on average, 1092.5 KwH a year.

Greenworks trains installers, architects, specifiers and self-builders on the benefits of sustainable building solutions and energy efficient technology, as well as offering hands-on installation training. By adopting some of the technologies the company trains its visitors on, the academy has shown first-hand what a dramatic impact the right products can have on the running costs and the environmental impact of a facility of any size.

The training provider has also made a huge step forwards in its recycling practices and increased its recycling by 66% in 2015, when compared to 2013 levels, and as a result, Greenworks says that it is proud to now hold the ‘Zero to Landfill’ status.

Marcus Jefford, director at Greenworks said: “In 2015 we saw the results of significant efforts that have been made to reduce the environmental impact of our organisation.

“We train people everyday about sustainability and energy efficiency, and have access to the latest technology and the most experienced partners. For years we have been practicing what we preach and invested in the products we train people in, and the results have surprised even us.

“It’s proof that it is possible to feasibly run a facility – even one as large as ours – in the most energy efficient way possible, if you just invest in the right product and simultaneously encourage a culture of environmentally friendly behaviour.”
