SIG UK has appointed Mark Clark as director of sustainable and renewable sales, where he will be ensuring SIG supports its customers with reaching sustainability goals.

He will be working closely with the Building Research Establishment to create independent and consistent methods of evaluating product sustainability, regarding factors such as: embodied carbon, in-use performance and recyclability.

With a lifelong interest in sustainability, Mark commented on his appointment: “I believe that, as a society, we are at a turning point and our buying decisions will increasingly be influenced by the environmental impact of the products we buy.

“As a major distributor, we can play an essential role in the supply chain, understanding what our customers need and providing the authenticated product ranges that fulfil the increasingly demanding criteria being set by clients and legislation.

“In this fast-moving market, a niche product, offering particular sustainability advantages can become mainstream very quickly once included in the SIG product portfolio. Part of my role is to provide a new route to market for such emerging products and technology.”
