Sika Roofing has been announced as the headline sponsor for the Construction Development Alliance (CDA) Awards 2016, continuing the company’s support of the awards for the second consecutive year.

Taking place on May 26, at Burnley Mechanics, Lancashire, this year’s awards ceremony will be hosted by Dominic Littlewood, consumer champion and presenter of popular shows including Fake Britain, Cowboy Builders and Don’t Get Done, Get Dom.

The awards will recognise the achievements of up to five outstanding young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who encapsulate the contribution of young people to the North West construction sector across a range of disciplines.

Rod Benson, target market manager at Sika Roofing, said: “Bringing new talent into the construction industry has to be a key priority for the entire supply chain, and continuing as headline sponsor for these awards for another year gives us an excellent opportunity to champion the contribution that young people make and their role in shaping the sector in the future.

“We’re very proud to support the awards, which will ensure that the CDA, as a not-for-profit organisation, can continue to raise the profile of its activities and involvement with maximising the potential of young professionals in the sector.”

A total of six awards will be given out on 26 May, with a winner for each of the five categories: ‘Overcoming Adversity in Construction’, ‘Young Designer of the Year’, ‘Young Apprentice in Construction’, ‘Young Construction Professional’ and ‘Young Construction Environmentalist’. Each of these winners will go forward to compete for the ‘Overall Winner’ award and a substantial prize.

The event also provides an opportunity for the CDA to support a local charity by holding a prize draw at the awards. This year’s chosen charity is the YMCA Housing Project, which assists vulnerable young people in Lancashire.

The Construction Development Alliance Awards will be held at Burnley Mechanics, Burnley, on May 26, 2016, from 6.30pm.
