Sundolitt UK is planning to open a new manufacturing plant to produce and convert expanded polystyrene insulation (EPS) products.
The £9 million investment is the result of a strategic decision to develop the company’s vision to be the leading expanded polystyrene manufacturer within the construction industry.
The location being around an hour from the capital is ideal to support the Midlands, London and the wider south east area, in addition to the company’s traditional base of Scotland and the north of England.
The new site will employ around 12 staff and will manufacture EPS block for conversion into the full range of insulation and civil engineering products. Sundolitt will also develop new and innovative products at the site for the construction sector.
Colin Morrow, general manager of Sundolitt, said: “We feel that the move from our Gateshead plant is a vital one for our continuing success and development. Our parent company is showing their support and confidence in the UK construction market with this investment and we feel the location is perfect to support the industry. We will be converting an existing site, so planning to be fully operational by September 2021.”
Sundolitt will continue to operate as normal from its other sites in Scotland.
