EPIC appoints new general secretary as senior director retires

EPIC's work is set to continue as Martin Hardwick (left) takes over from Peter Trew (right), who retires after 18 years of serviceEngineered Panels in Construction (EPIC) has announced that Martin Hardwick is to take up the role of general secretary.

The organisation says Mr. Hardwick has been a passionate and active member of the construction industry for over 25 years and possesses extensive senior managerial experience, both with leading construction materials supply companies and trade associations.

In the various roles he has held throughout his career, Martin has helped to drive forward industry engagement with stakeholders and develop closer ties between trade bodies. He is a keen advocate of sustainable practice, and has also played a role in the development and deployment of industry metrics, targets and regulatory documents including sustainability Standards, BES 6001 and BS 8902.

Mr. Hardwick’s appointment follows the recent retirement of one of EPIC’s directors, Peter Trew, who joined the body in 1997. During his time at EPIC, Mr. Trew has contributed to the industry’s knowledge through his work with insulated panel systems, as well as with the production of a number of significant guidance documents, both in the UK and Europe. Peter also chaired the CEN TC128 committee responsible for EN 14509, bringing his considerable expertise to the development of the European Standard for sandwich panel systems.
