Key promotion

Katherine Leggett joined Keyline in Kirby, Ashfield, as an assistant branch manager following her successful completion of a two-year apprenticeship scheme at sister company, BSS Industrial.

Katherine, who originally joined BSS Grimbsy to cover maternity leave as an administrator, found she enjoyed the business operations and management so much that, six months after completing her original contract, she applied to join the apprenticeship scheme at BSS Industrial’s branch in Lincoln.

Keyline and BSS Industrial are members of the Travis Perkins apprenticeship scheme, which aims to encourage and develop skills in the industry. Katherine, who graduated two months early, is just one of the many apprentices who have gone on to find permanent positions at the group.

The scheme consists of two years working across different departments including the warehouse, counter, operations, sales and administration as well as covering management roles including accounts, team appraisals and customer service.

Katherine said: “I love everything to do with operations, organising and managing so, following my contract at BSS Grimbsy, applying for the apprenticeship scheme was a natural choice for me. I have enjoyed every minute of the course and it has been a great chance for me to further my career and secure future opportunities. I have been at Keyline for three weeks and it’s a fantastic place to work. I’m really looking forward to having a long and happy career with the business.”
